Looking back after a term and a half of law school, I have come up with a fool proof formula for law school success. Every law student I talk to agrees with me, for what that is worth. The secret?
Get amazing grades your first term.
How simple right? Great grades means you get on law review (most law reviews reserve spots for the top % of the class), you also get the coveted 1L clerkship with the big firm. That job and law review gets put on your resume and will lead to your 2L summer clerkship. Then, as long as you don’t do anything supremely stupid, that will lead to a job offer after your 3L year.
That’s all there is to it kids. I know, easier said that done. But really, do anything you have to to get great grades your first term and you are set, not only for law school but for your career. Buy all the outlines and E&Es you can. Shut yourself off from the world. Find your professors old tests. Ask 2Ls for old outlines. Those first semester grades are everything. As long as you get that first summer internship and you do well to get invited back, your grades matter less and less because you are showing you are capable already on the job.
If you follow this and become successful, hire me.
