Big Supreme Court Cases

A couple big cases coming up before the court soon.

• DC Gun Ban/2nd Amendment
  DC enacted a ban on handguns and requiring strict rules for keeping shotguns. The Supreme Court is going to rule on whether that is against the second amendment, or whether the second amendment only allows for militias to keep weapons.
• FCC Television Profanity
  The court is going to decide whether “fleeting expletives”, those curse words that slip by during live broadcasts like award shows. Right now, the FCC can impose fines, but the appeals court noted:

  The court rejected the FCC’s policy on procedural grounds, but was “skeptical that the commission can provide a reasoned explanation for its fleeting expletive regime that would pass constitutional muster.”
