The other cost of fast food to be listed on the menu

A judge in NYC has ordered that the new law mandating restaurants list the calories of their foods on menus is legal.

That means when you go into Burger King you will see that whopper has over 600 calories, or that some Starbucks coffee has over 700! (I actually love starbucks, sorry friend)

I wonder if this is actually going to do more harm long term than good. People may be initially shocked. But I bet that this won’t cause any restaurant to actually change their menu items to become more healthy. Sure, a few people might walk out and change their diets, but most won’t. It’s still a quick, tasty meal that is going to be hard to find a substitute for many, like those on a quick lunch break.

So, people will just begin to accept that a single meal can have more than half your recommended caloric intake. Then, in a few years when some chain introduces some sandwich with 1,000 calories, people will just think it is normal.

  1. I hate it when they tell me how much fatter my Starbucks or McDonalds is going to make me. Seriously… I am going to eat it anyway…. at least let me be happily oblivious to the calorie content. Life is hard enough without being fat AND feeling guilty!
