With the primary in PA, and all the others, the media tends to focus on the polling results of whether voters would support the other democratic candidate if their choice lost. The numbers are scary high on both sides, if you believe them.
I simply don’t. I think Hillary voters say they would not support Obama and vice-versa because they think it is a way to show ardent support for their candidate. When the nomination actually comes through- I don’t think Democrats are actually going to go and vote for the Republican, McCain- especially not after 8 years of Bush.
Who might do this? Independent voters who are voting Democratically this time around. But I still don’t think when it comes down to it they are going to vote Republican instead of the second choice Dem. Not with all the issues this republican administration has created.
The ones who truly will do it? People who vote not on policy, but on emotion. This is again why I support Obama. Sure many of his and Hillary’s policy choices are the same- but it is going to be easier for him to win the general election. Many people vote not FOR their candidate, but AGAINST the other guy. Obama will have less of these anti votes than the ardent anti-hillary voters.

That is an interesting belief, since all the news outlets seem to be pushing the Clinton view that she is more likely to be elected in the general election. But when you say it like you do, it seems you might have a point. I wonder though, about the ardent anti-Clinton and anti-Obama parties– how much do you think the anti-female and anti-black population is included? Or are we past that stage?…

I think the media claim Clinton is more electable because they love that people are actually paying attention to politics and watching the news. They want the race to continue so they can sell ads- is that too cynical?
Also, I would like to hope we are past that stage, but unfortunately I have doubts. On the other hand, I bet those are republicans anyway and unlikely to vote Dem.
