NFL Fans v MLB Fans
Recently, I noticed that baseball fans tends to stop watching after their team is out of the running. People who watch the world series are either fans of those two teams, or really hardcore baseball fans.
Football fans however, watch the super bowl no matter who is playing. In fact, the super bowl is one of the most watched sporting events.
Why is that? Are baseball fans more loyal, or more bitter? Are football fans more inclusive? Do they just like watching the game more?
Or, is it just that the Super Bowl is more of an event, where people who don’t watch football generally tune in (even if just to watch the commercials)?

There are like, 10 football games a year. There are 2,430 baseball games in the regular season, and can be 41 games in the postseason. There’s your answer.
it’s because people who watch sports that are based around a 132750367990 game season are nut. jobs.
they are crazy people and we may never understand how their crazy brains work.
I would go with the “Superbowl is more of an ‘event’” view.
I love the MLB playoffs and Word Series; tournaments bring out greatness. Unlike football, where there is one game played to determine the winner of a particular round, in baseball it takes more than one game to determine the better team.
I live in Oklahoma City, where the Triple-A Oklahoma City Redhawks (Rangers Affiliate) are located so naturally I’m a Texas Rangers fan, so if I were to decide not to watch the playoffs, or lose interest after my team was mathematically eliminated from the playoffs, I’d be finished somewhere after the all star break.
I’d say those of us who continue watching baseball once our team is eliminated have a true love of the game. We love the game more than our team, whereas others love their team more than the game.
Football is also much shorter of a season so it’s difficult to get burnt out on watching the games each week — since you’re only offered 1 game a week. If there were 162 games a year, playing multiple games a week, I’m sure some fans would stop watching at some point.
