Student Discounts on Cell Phone Plans

With the economy the way it is, I am always looking for smart ways to save money. Being a student still, I often find great student only deals (example 1, example 2).

Another one I recently came across is also just for students. Many cell phone companies have deals with universities to give discounts to employers who use the service. This give the cell provider a ton of customers for a small discount. Often, they also open this discount up to students.

At Washington and Lee, because I worked as a work study student, I received a 12% discount on my Verizon bill thanks to an employer discount! Now that I am with AT&T, and at Richmond I lost that discount. However, I found an AT&T website where you can enter your school email address and see if your school gives a  discount. I did, and to my surprise Richmond grants a discount to both employees AND students.

Most of the other cell providers have similar deals. You can go check out Consumerist to see the blog post they have linking to each service provider’s deals.
