Two More Friends With Blogs
Just wanted to bring attention to two more of my friends who have interesting blogs. Make sure you go check them out.
Kick Rocks, Sail Fast – Katie is a friend from high school who has this (not so) secret double life as a professional sailboat racer. She writes about her adventures on the open sea.
The Belletrist - Christine is a friend from law school who has a blog where she shares cool things she runs across, with a focus on food and fashion.

The stats helper monkeys at WordPress.com mulled over how this blog did in 2010, and here’s a high level summary of its overall blog health:

About 3 million people visit the Taj Mahal every year. This blog was viewed about 30,000 times in 2010. If it were the Taj Mahal, it would take about 4 days for that many people to see it.
In 2010, there were 81 new posts, growing the total archive of this blog to 733 posts. There were 13 pictures uploaded, taking up a total of 829kb. That’s about a picture per month.
The busiest day of the year was January 4th with 302 views. The most popular post that day was Verizon FIOS Review.
Where did they come from?
The top referring sites in 2010 were evitealternatives.com, evitesucks.com, facebook.com, jonarogers.com, and twitter.com.
Some visitors came searching, mostly for verizon fios reviews, ticket pocket, and polo logo.

New Theme
Changed the theme for my blog. The old one wasn’t formatting properly in Internet Explorer.
Alternatively, if anyone is good with photoshop and can make me an awesome header, I would appreciate it.
Battle of the Blogs
As much as that sounds like a 50s era sci-fi horror movie, this post is actually a plug for a friend’s blog. Even though I tend to skew left (is it that obvious? oh it is.), I do have many friends who are solidly conservative.
This person just recently started a blog aimed at young college students who are supporting McCain’s campaign. I may not agree with her ideologies, but her posts are well written and persuasive. She also does a good job of getting around the media’s headline focused reporting to look at the underlying issues and motivations. You get a sense of real world rationality in her writing.
If you are looking for a bit of balance, a change of pace, or a differing viewpoint you can go check out her blog. I just hope she isn’t too persuasive.

As always, you can find a list of my buddies’ blogs in the right column under “Friends”.
Where are you seeing this from?
I installed a cool widget that allows me to see where people are checking my website from.
You can see where people are from as well by clicking here, and then clicking “maps”. The stars are visitors around the globe.

worky work, busy bee
Sorry I haven’t been attending this as much as I should. Law schools exams are tough. This is one of those classic scenarios where everyone tells you how terrible the situation is, and you think you have your head around it- and it still stings when the true magnitude of how rough it is smacks you in the face. I feel alot like this guy. But actually busy.
Anyway, I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. My last exam is Friday in property. (you would know that you if you check out my pownce page.)
I made some aesthetic changes to the blog. I like how clean it is now. Brighter- makes it feel clean and fresh. If you likey or not let me know. also, I am desperately trying to find a cool picture to serve as the banner at the top. Ideas? If you have pic send it to me. Or if you like the current one tell me that too.
Finally – Now that this semester is over, I really want a new project. This will sound kind of crazy but I get a bit stir crazy just sitting around. And simply reading case law isn’t doing it. If you have something grandiose like a business idea- you want to start a DC PR firm and you just want someone to brainstorm and help you out- give me a call. It could be something really small- I made a dvd of my roommate’s solo music performance at our undergrad from a couple of years ago. I just want a project to put some effort into so I can feel like a rounded person instead of a law school nerd. So, if you have anything hit me up with that as well.
Visitor Stats
So, I took the time today to go and check out how many people are visiting my blog and for what reasons. I was actually suprised! (Sorry in advance if this post seems a bit self-aggrandizing because well, it is.)

I have almost 2,000 visitors so far! I think that is pretty cool. (no the blog does not count my own visits and posts as visits – these are other people actually checking me out!) And in one day I had 75 people see my little website. Wicked.
Here are the charts for the past year:

You can see that this past summer the number of visitors increased tremendously! My topics must be getting better. Or maybe friends are reading my page more often because I’m not around to tell them about all the cool things I’ve read?
Oh, and that 75 hits in one day?

That big bump was because of my Ipod release post. Guess people were looking for a scoop and found it here. I also got linked to by another blog on that day! For nerds like me that is just too cool.
Oh and some visitors are finding me via Google. Seriously. If you search for Jonathan Rogers Richmond, I’m near the top of the first page of results. neat. But the reasons they are finding me are interesting. The common searches are Jeremy Piven, and that American Apparel discount I posted. Apparently people really want that discount- glad I could help you out.
Anyway – if you are a regular visitor to the site, thanks for coming! I hope when the posts start becoming less common as the year moves on you don’t totally abandon me.
New Look
Hey changed the site a little bit visually. If you like it let me know, if you liked it the old way better let me know that too. If you have a better idea of what could go on that banner at the top let me know that too. Okay, basically I’m bored in lex this summer, as you can tell by me working on this page so much, so just hit me up, dammit.
Oh, also- you can see the most recent comments on the right side there. So, start leaving comments about stuff and be the most popular kid on the block! …I predict this will end in one of two ways, someone will just posting totally innapropriate stuff and ruin the fun, or 2) no one at all will post anything and I will realize what a waste of time this is.
First Post
Hey Everyone! JonathanARogers.com the blog is now open for business! This is actually my second blog. My first was a small hit among my close friends, so I’m hoping this large scale site is just as successful if not more. It should have a wider scope however. I’m hoping this actually turns into a sort of lifestyle blog. I’ve found alot of my friends ask me about advice on certain topics, and I’m thinking it would be cool to just have a record of my thoughts as a reference. Anyway, enough talk- come back soon for some good posts!
